Aims of the Guild

The Guild exists to provide a sociable
environment for members to practice
their skills, learn new skills and
pass skills on to interested learners.

Members participate in informal and
formal workshops and demonstrate
in schools, at historic re-enactments
and at craft fairs.

Challenge 2017
Our Challenge theme for this year is
Scotland: Land, Light and Life

Get out those spindles and spinning
wheels, dust off your weaving loom
and frames, and get the dye baths
ready-you have been challenged
to create something memorable in
Scotland's year of History, Heritage
and Archaeology.
Our exhibition will be at our October
meeting (the Gathering) so now's the
time to get started. Advice and support

The Guild
We meet on the second Saturday of each month from 10.00 to 15.00 at St. Theresa's Church Hall, Glasgow St. Dumfries DG2 9DE. Members arrive at 10am and have a tea/coffee while meeting and greeting and chatting. The business meeting begins at 10.30. Workshops begin at 11.00 until 12.30 when we have lunch. Workshops continue from 1.00 until 3.00. Those not participating in workshops bring their spinning, weaving, knitting etc. to work at whilst catching up with news/events

Tea, Coffee, Biscuits etc. are available at Guild meetings (donation towards cost £1). Members bring a packed lunch to the meetings except at our October Gathering and December meeting when food to share is brought instead..

Would you like to join the Guild?
If you think you might like to join why not first attend one or two meetings to check us out. If you look at the programme
you will see what activities are happening at each meeting and you might decide to come along on a particular day when
there is something of interest to you going on. Visitors pay £4 on the day and that includes refreshments. Introduce
yourself to one of the Committee members who will show you the library, tell you about borrowing equipment and help
make you feel welcomed.
